The Royal Hotel, Pilgrims Rest is situated in this historic and unspoiled gold mining village.
Proclaimed as a National Monument in 1986, the village has succeeded in preserving the quaint atmosphere of yesteryear.
Trapped in a time warp, the lounge reflects an epoch of time
honoured hospitality and elegance so typical of the late Victorian era.
Upon entering the Royal Hotel, visitors are immediately taken on a
nostalgia-filled trip into the past. The reception walls are lined with
the most interesting photographs and artefacts
providing vivid glimpses of Pilgrim's Rest's history. This theme is
carried forward into the lounge as well as our very famous public bar,
the "Church Bar".
The Royal Hotel bedrooms are truly in a different class. Fifty en-suite
bedrooms are spread over a number of annexes to the main hotel and all of
them radiate extreme character. Furnished with genuine antique brass
beds, wash stands, wardrobes and other furniture, visitors cannot but be transported
back into history.
Rounding off this atmosphere are authentic Victorian baths, sanitary ware
and fixtures. In these surroundings, electric shavers, driers and other
equipment will seem out of place.
Have an ice-cold drink in our infamous Church Bar before settling down for a selection of sumptuous home-cooked meals available in our exquisite Peach Tree Creek restaurant.

Take R21 towards N12 (in the direction of Benoni) (±5 km), Turn left onto N12
towards Witbank (±115 km), N12 joins with N4, pass Midddelburg,
keep N4 to Belfast turn off (±75 km), Turn left on R33 towards Belfast (±2
km) , in Belfast, turn right towards Dullstroom on
R540 (±35 km), Travel through Dullstroom towards
Lydenburg on R540 (±43 km) , before Lydenburg at T-junction, turn left on R36
and carefully follow directions through Lydenburg, keeping on R36 towards
Ohrigstad (Tzaneen / Phalaborwa)
(±28 km), turn right towards Pilgrim's Rest on R533 through Robber's Pass
(±29 km), follow signs to The Royal Hotel in Uptown Pilgrims Rest.
